Takahe Awareness Month: April 2019

We're thrilled to be teaming up with DOC in celebrating Takahe awareness month! 
Thought to be extinct, takahē were rediscovered just over 70 years ago, leading to New Zealand's longest standing conservation programme to ensure the takahē is never again considered extinct. The current population is 376 (approx) and we're inviting you to celebrate this extraordinary progress.

Here's how you can get involved:

1) Come and see a takahe on Rotoroa Island (we have 8 resident takahē on the island, including 1 little chick). If you're near Auckland, takahē can also be seen on Tiritiri Matangi or Motutapu Islands. And elsewhere in NZ, this handy map shows you where takahē are living.
2) Snap a photo of takahe (with the takahe filter) and win an overnight family trip to Rotoroa or Tiritiri Matangi Islands- https://www.fullers.co.nz/takahe-awareness-month/
3) Come to our Takahē walk and talk, celebrating takahe awareness  - Sat 27 April at 11am.
