Seeking Rotoroa Island Relieving Rangers

Are you fit, practical and responsible with a can-do attitude and have some time on your hands?

We are on the hunt for several fit, practical, responsible people with a can-do attitude who have some time on their hands.

If you have related experience and like working outside on anything from grounds maintenance to mowing, track maintenance – our relieving ranger role may suit you.

You will also be required to undertake cleaning of facilities, including accommodation houses as well as guided walks and keeping the island animal pest free.

Because Rotoroa is a semi remote island open to the public, working safely is essential as is being a people person as you will interact with visitors often.You must be a person who leads by example, works well with others but equally can be entrusted with sole charge management from time to time.

Important

  • The role is restricted to people who live in Auckland or on Waiheke – we only cover travel via ferry from these places.
  • We also provide furnished accommodation.
  • Our Island based team work 10 days on 4 days off.  Relieving rangers work the 4 days –the weekend & 2 days either at the start or end of that rostered period.
  • You would need to commit to the 4 day period and likely would be rostered on once every 4-6 weeks. This is a paid role with training provided.
  • You must be a NZ citizen or have a valid work visa and a current NZ drivers licence. A first aid certificate is preferable, and you must be a clear and articulate communicator.
  • Please note because Rotoroa is a semi remote island, you may be sole charge and working with the public a Police check will be undertaken pre-employment.
