Volunteer Planting Days Winter 2017

Join our passionate team of volunteers this winter to help us create habitat for our precious native species. 360 Discovery Cruises offers a 40% discount for volunteers, so be in quick to book your place.

The dates for 2017 are:

Saturday 5th August- Volunteer Planting Day
Sunday 6th August - Volunteer Planting Day
Saturday 12th August - Volunteer Planting Day. Help enhance our skink habitats! Special focus on planting in our skink enclosures, followed by a reptile talk from one of Auckland Zoo's dedicated Ectotherm team.
Saturday 2nd September - Volunteer Planting Day

Sunday 27th August - Volunteer Planting Day; CANCELLED due to low tides

WHAT TO BRING

Your lunch and plenty of water to drink; sturdy footwear (no open toed shoes); several layers of clothes and wet weather gear; sunscreen and sun hat; gardening gloves if you have them.  If you require any medication, please bring it with you (especially if you are an allergy sufferer); staff will have a basic first aid kit only.

Please note, volunteer days are not suited for very young children; those five years and older are welcome however they must be supervised by their parent or caregiver.

WHAT WE'LL PROVIDE

Gloves and spades (please bring your own if you have them); tea, coffee and water; supervisors with plenty of interesting stories and good humour! Plus we'll put on a sausage sizzle.

PLAN FOR THE DAY

8:45am Volunteers depart on 360 Discovery ferry from Quay St;
10:00am Arrive on Rotoroa, welcome and biosecurity briefing;
10:30am Gear distributed and work begins;
12.30pm Break for lunch;
3:00pm Time to explore the island, followed by sausage sizzle
5:15pm Ferry departs for Auckland

HOW TO BOOK SPECIAL VOLUNTEER FARES

CANCELLATIONS

While unlikely to cancel unless terrible weather, here's how you can be sure it's going ahead. Check our website or Facebook page where we'll post a cancellation notification.
